After weeks and weeks of ‘discussions’ regarding ‘the’ pond - with no one agreeing where it should go, how big it should be, how it should be built it or even if we should have one I’ve bought one!! It’s a large 750 litre black moulded pond - and I consider that’s my bit over with. I bought it so someone else can decide what to do with it.
So after giving detailed instruction to Stephen i.e dig a hole………. He dug one! in the middle of the garden, put the pond in it and started to fill it with water…………. (didn't seem to notice that it didn't fit at all and was sticking up from the ground by a good 10 inches)
Enter John, home from work……….. who patiently got some pipe, drained it, removed the pond from the hole and dug it properly (deeper, wider and better) leaving two huge piles of muck ( as we say in Yorkshire). Entering into the spirit of the thing John became enthusiasm personified and decided that we would have a nice patio around it and a waterfall going into it and a pump and filter and lights?? (all this because I found a frog in the garden and wanted it to have a home).
So he set to, ordered a ton of sand (so there will be a beach) and grabbing a shovel he began moving the pile of dirt from the outside of the hole 4 foot to the left in order to mark out the paved area (ill never understand men) ……………….After a day in bed and a visit to the chiropractor he instructed Stephen to move the muck into a skip we hired.
Total cost so far
Pond £160
Sand £ no idea
Wheelbarrow £40
Chiropractor £52 + a second appointment on Monday and now a third
Skip Hire £80
Do we have a pond – nope but its getting there. .. ill keep you posted i'm sure
