They tried to make me go to rehab - I said - Ill have some of that

I think, on the whole I prefer not swearing to swearing, however I also think that the more you say something the more ‘normal’ it becomes and to this end I have to admit to the occasional profanity. To this same end telling people that My son Mark is in Rehab is now more normal and is starting to make me giggle.
The scenario will go something like
“Hello Dianne how’s things? How’s the family?”
“Well Stacey works at HBOS, Stephen is about to go into the Army (again) and Marks in Rehab!” then comes the inevitable reaction….. Some people go quiet, some people loose the eye contact or suddenly find that they have something else to do and some people just say “sorry”.

No-one, but no-one makes the assumption that he is rehabilitating from an injury!

The people who know Mark but maybe haven’t seen any of the family for a while will ask how he ended up in Rehab, something like “how the hell did he end up there?” (shocked look on their face). Looking from the other side however, some people who know Mark but maybe haven’t seen any of the family for a while will also give a slight nod of the head and a raise of the eyebrows which says – hmmm well I did notice the amount of alcohol he consumed the last time I saw him - in that ‘I blame the parents’ kind of way.

So just for the record and in case anyone is nosey enough to look at this every once in a while…. Mark gained a leg injury whilst doing his initial Army training and it’s the Army that sent him to Rehab – nothing at all to do with the alcohol…………………. Well at least for the moment :o)

PS… Running – I’m loving it
