Well after 8 months of being in the Army Mark ‘passed out’. He should have done it after 12 weeks, but with injuries to his back and then his leg he has spent most of it in Rehab!
Went down to Bassingbourn (near Cambridge) in two cars, I set off at 6.30am with my Mum and Stacey and John took a second car housing Stephen and two of his friends, John Barnfather and Sam McPartland, another of Marks friends, Lee Marsden was making his own way there.
I’ve not go much to write about the day except that I was one very proud Mummy. I was also one very upset Mummy for the first 15 minutes as I couldn’t pick him out of all the soldiers on parade (three troupes of about 40 men, and they were a fair way off). So as John kept saying ‘that’s him on the front row’ I was taking photos and feeling very bad that I couldn’t seem to recognise my own son, who, I felt, had lost a lot of weight….Once they marched passed us though I realised that Mark was not the person who I was taking photos of!!! I did eventually spot him on the second row and managed to get many very good photos. The whole event was not spoiled in the least by the heavy showers that kept coming down.
Next stage for Mark is Bordan, somewhere near Guildford to start his Mechanical training. However he is back home in two weeks and will be staying for a three week break…………. How happy am I :o)
